I do not recommend this outfitter

The camp was a dump. The only good thing about the camp was the guys from PA who shared my Ohio misadventure with me. They were good guys. The mattresses were nasty and stained, we slept on the floor because there weren't enough beds.

The food was terrible. They advertised 3 meals a day. I came in for lunch and they asked what I was doing. I told them I was hungry. Glen made some smart remark, like "you can't kill a deer from the camp, and made me a sandwich. It turned out, the sandwich was made with the guys from PAs cold cuts,, which was pretty funny. Glenn made some venison stuff that was terrible, then left out most of the night. I think I saturated my scent lock suit within the first 10 minutes of hunting the next day. That night, we were going to have the leftovers from the night before. I left to go eat elsewhere.

The people there were out milking the hunters for the tip. They would talk garbage about the other hunters when they weren't there, to try to show you how much better they liked you.

Apparently, they were talking some big junk about me to the PA guys. They told me this right before they took off 2 days before their hunt ended because they couldn't take that place or the B.S that Jason and Glenn were pulling, any more. I.E. when I would go down town to get some eatable food, they told them that they thought I was going to go get high,, or some such garbage. They also were talking junk about my family, I found out about later. Glenn was obnoxious, and Jason, a sheriffs deputy is a poacher. He shot a turkey with his bow on a bet from Glenn. Then he asked if we minded if he didn't tag it. It's hard to say yes when the shooter is the deputy and the head guide has a pistol under his front seat. The processor they used tried to rip off the hunters. I told him that I wanted the tender loins butterflied. He said, "we normally don't mess with them because they are so small". (Read that as, we normally just keep them for ourselves.)

Oh, I also found out that I was over charged. I paid $1200 for the hunt. The guys from PA paid $1200 for two guys. I guess since I am retired military, they figured they could rip me off because I have a constant income. Great Americans, that bunch is. On the good side, I got a nice doe and a small 8 point. I normally try to shoot mature animals. I hate to say this, but I shot it because I just wanted to finish up and get home with more than just bad memories of "my Ohio mis-adventure". If you want to book a hunt with County Line, be sure to hit a video store and rent DELIVERANCE. It'll give you an idea of what to expect.

Outfitter's Response
Disagree

My name is Jason Savage. I run a small guiding service in Ohio for deer and turkeys. Jay Glazewski was indeed an archer we hosted in Nov '06. He verbally requested to return in '07 and wished to be allowed to be accompanied by his family. He is not invited back. I do not condone mudslinging. The allegation that I might be a poacher is false. Mr. Glazewski has never been present when I myself have hunted..Mr. Glazewski is apparently discouraged over several guided archery hunts to the midwest in that he has been un-able to get a successful opportunity at a trophy buck. (Jay you can't rattle in the dark to a mature buck while walking back to your truck, have him come check you out, then expect him to give you an opportunity during shooting hours. Big mature white-tails are a different animal and you cannot afford to make a mistakes or fool around calling them after hours. Also, learn to pay attention to the guys attempting to help you.. We want you to achieve success as much or more than you do yourself. I am sorry for your several "mis-adventures", Sincerely, better luck in the future.) We make no claim to be the best in the business. We are regular folk attempting to help archers of all capabilities enjoy the outdoors. We are not true blue trophy hunters. We have taken our large bucks when they presented favorable opportunities, and because, believe it or not, there are big deer in Ohio. Reference our quality of service, I advertize that hunters will be staying in a small one room cabin.. This past season we instead housed our hunters an old 3 bedroom farm house that admittedly is not a 5 star hotel. It's warm, comfortable, and we try to cook modest meals that allow as much time for us to concentrate on the hunting as possible. We make it perfectly clear to anyone who might have an issue that they should feel free to talk to us about it, and we'll make an extra trip to the grocery etc. to make their stay an enjoyable one. Once again, Jay I hope you have better success in the future in your goal of harvesting a big deer, though please learn to slow down and enjoy the experience and gift of having the chance to enjoy the outdoors.. A little advice, and please do all of us, guide services, a favor.. Don't tell us what a great time you had and talk about wanting to come back with your son and wife, then for whatever reason start making false allegations.( The turkey had in fact been tagged, I wanted your reaction on a hunting violation situation after you telling me you were going to shoot that big deer with your bow in the dark. That is a no no, and as a law enforcement officer I would have had you charged with poaching myself! Sincerely, Jason Savage.
