This was my third trip to Indian Summer Outfitters. I went for a customized 17-day hunt. It was a semi-guided. I saw a great number of nice bulls. One incident, Jeff and I were walking through the dark timber, calling at a bull going crazy, and another bull answered our calls that was probably 100 yards away. I got off to the side of a game trail where we thought the bull would come through, and Jeff got behind me on the trail about 50 yards. The next thing I knew there was a cow standing two feet beside me and a 7 x 6 standing looking at me head on. I was at full draw and extremely excited to be that close to that size of an animal. Needless to say, the cow winded me and the shot opportunity never happened. I had some other close encounters, but just could not put the game plan together. I ended up shooting a nice 4 x 5 at a wallow at 35 yards. It was one of my most memorable hunts. The weather once again was 65 degrees to snow on the ground. The food and lodging were above and beyond excellent. I really enjoy all the guys that work at Indian Summer Outfitters. They make your hunting experience a great one. I am in the processing of planning another hunt in 2009, for archery again, and I cannot wait to play some string music on another elk!!!!
