I have hunted at Tara Wildlife for many years on the Willow Point South property and the main Tara property, which are bowhunting only. Just this past year, Tara dedicated their former Halpino gun property to bow only. Halpino is the perfect setup...small cabin, only up to 6 hunters, 2 guides, and fantastic habitat. I personally had over 30 bucks within 50 yards on my 3 day hunt and over 120 bucks were observed from our group of 5. I took shots at two different P & Y bucks and missed both. Jimmy and Jason did a great job putting us on big bucks. 4 shots were taken out of 5 hunters, and unfortunately, we all missed. We will definitely be returning. The food was excellent...Lois did a great job! The peek rut in this area tends to be Dec. 20th-January 10th. The buck to doe ratio seemed to be close to 6 bucks to 1 doe, mostly due to the flood and does not returning to their former homes. This made for an intense rut!
