After I hunted the 1st firearms season, I stayed on for three days of archery. Clifford bent over backwards to put me on a stand that had not been hunted that weekend and had received minimal pressure the week prior. The first afternoon on this stand produced a several does but no bucks. The next morning I had 17 deer sightings including one 140-150 class 9 pointer that I ultimately airmailed and center punched a smaller double beamed buck with the errant shot. I killed a doe to help the management efforts minutes after following up on the buck...this was after the BIG deer I missed came back in and proceeded for 5 solid minutes to gore the dead buck, turn him flips, and pin him to the ground and nearby trees!!! I was afraid to get down out of the stand. An awesome sight that I can only wish I had a video camera to capture it all. In short, he did a great job with the short time period putting me on a shooter buck. I just wished I could have closed the deal on the largest deer of my career instead of making such a blunder. There were several 150 class and 140 class bruisers taken during the three day gun hunt including one 162 double beamed pig! A bowhunter also killed a 178 just days before we arrived. They definitely have the big bucks the Midwest is famous for. I would highly recommend The Quail Shed and Clifford Neames!
