Hunter Comments

I didnt discuss my opinions with the outfitter but some of the other guys in our group did. In our group of 6 everyone was unhappy for various reasons. The lodging and the food were excellent but I felt the number of animals were greatly exaggerated over the phone and the size of the animals seemed to be exaggerated also.

My biggest complaint was I felt we were misled. For 2 days they took us to one side of the ranch that was fenced off and we saw no hogs at all. Then suddenly when some of the rest of the guys showed up for the hunt they switched sides and started taking us to the rest of the ranch. All the while they never told us that there were feeders set up and that was why we never saw any animals (the ranch is huge and that is why it took us so long to find everything with no help from them) Finally on the last day we stumbled upon the feeder and found all the animals we had been looking for over a 4 day span.

It really seeemed they didnt want us to get any animals in my opinion.

Outfitter's Response

First of all let me say I do not normally even respond to this sort of thing. If you have a problem with the outfitter have enough balls to talk to him. This guy Rick Love , shook my hand when he left camp and told me we had a nice place and that he had a good time. He hunted with us in Jan 2007 and then takes this long to gripe about it.

Let us get the facts straight first. His hunt cost was not $325 It was $450. It was not 4 day hunt. It was a 3 day hunt for the opportunity to shoot 3 hogs of any size. No guarantees, if you want a guarantee go to local livestock market and you can shoot one out of their pens. If you want to hunt the animals come hunt with us. Our place is 2500 acres and that is one of the things he said he liked, it did not feel like a pen If you want our opinion ask us where we think you should hunt. If we show where we think good spots are and then you go the opposite way, well there you have it.

Out of the other guys in his group he was the only one that did not shoot a hog. Most shot 2 and at least one guy shot all 3. But then that guy griped because he did not find 2 of them. I can't help that. If you stick an arrow in 3 hogs I would say you shot 3 hogs. Some of the guys in this group got up and hunted , some were too lazy to put much effort into it. One afternoon sitting at the lodge, we looked out the window to see a group of about 15-20 hogs go across a field and bed down in some brush. We showed them and they just sat and watched TV saying , oh well they would probably just run off before they got up on them. I am not going to hold your hand and make you go hunt.

As a Texas outfitter I don't know of anyone that tries to keep you from shooting hogs on their place. Our reputation speaks for itself and we do over 80% repeat business. I will say this , I am glad Rick Love chooses not to hunt with us. For future referance to any hunter, if you have a problem with your outfitter talk to him. Don't get on a website and start lying about him to make you feel better. He will not know there is a problem if you do not tell him. This is how we make our living and our hunters input is always appreciated. We are not above making mistakes, but this is not the case this time.
