New Zealand red stags are awesome! I arrived in the thick of the roar and watched stags chasing hinds (females), chasing each other, fighting, roaring...much like hitting the rut with elk and deer. Shane did a great job guiding me and is a close mate. The hills are not too high but the slopes can be pretty steep. We hunted over a wallow and had a 41 yard shot, severe downhill angle. This was one of my best hunts I've taken in 27 years of taking big game hunts.
