Unbelievable hunt! Exceeded every expectation I had. Chip, his partner, Dave, and the team handled every aspect of the hunt. Food was superb and plentiful – with an always open kitchen if needed. They ensured the baits were maintained. They allowed any hunters to work with them or just hang out at the camp etc. If you choose to stay behind there are numerous things to do – including site seeing the beautiful countryside and wildlife (Moose etc), fishing, going to town, checking out the local check station for the days catch or just hanging out sharing stories with the other hunters.
The one thing that really stands out above all is Chip and the team is totally engaged in making this not only the best hunt possible but the most enjoyable time you can have. You do not need to lift a finger for six days if you choose not to – every aspect of the hunt is thought out, prepared and executed perfectly.
They take eight hunters in camp for the week so it not crowed at all. I believe they manage over 50 bait sites – check with Chip. There is no overlapping with other hunters. They would drop us off quickly - escort the hunter to the stand making sure we were in and safe. Max of 4 hunters per guide. When the hunt was over there was no delay in picking us up. They meet you at your stand within 30 minutes of end of legal shooting light (no hanging around worrying about what is going on) and then go back to track the bear etc. Always a celebratory brew for you at the end of the day if you choose to have one. They suggested how to hunt and act in the stands and are quick to teach you anything they knew. You are not required to drive to your stand or find you way around in the woods. As far as I can tell this is exactly the way this type of hunt should happen.
They know what they are doing and enjoy it!
The only compliant I have is – which is not a complaint at all. I was not one of the hunters in our camp to get a bear in 07 - I am already booked for 08.
