Exceptional experience with Vince and New Mexico Hunting Adventures. Had multiple communications before the hunt with Vince so preparation and arrival were understood. I've hunted a lot, mostly in Alaska, a little in Colorado a long time ago, and some in New Zealand, so hunting the Rockies and at elevation was a newer experience. Camp was well-organized, the guides got together each night to discuss what they'd seen and make plans for the next trip. There was a clear sense of teamwork throughout the organization - everyone wanted to see all of the hunters succeed. We did have one hunter who showed up sick the first day, saw a doctor in Taos and was told not to do anything physical, so he and his wife left. Another hunter and his son left early because he wasn't feeling good. That left 7 hunters, those of us that stayed were all in and getting after it. Our guide, Dominic was well-versed in the area and loved what he was doing, it was my wife's second hunt and he made sure she was doing it all right. We were flexible in where and how we hunted - coming from sea-level brought it's own challenge but we did our best to prepare. We saw a lot of sign the first day but just one cow, the second day we could hear the bugling and then it started - first several cows, a couple of spike bulls, and then a nice, solid 6x5 came out and my wife dropped it. Vince and 2 other guys came out to help us retrieve it and we took it back to camp. Dominic, Rick (another guide), one of the young apprentice guides and myself got it dressed out and bagged up to take to the processor. The next night, we went back out for mine. Again, we could hear the bugling - very exciting - we waited and my bull presented - a nice, heavy, wide 5x4. I dropped him and Dominic and I got to work dressing him out and getting him out of there. The next day, after boning it out and getting it in coolers, we left for Colorado. There was a nice 6x6 in camp and the others were still out. The hunt was a great experience, the accommodations were awesome, the food was great, the staff were really connected and worked as a team, our guide was spot-on - well versed and had it together - Vince runs a great operation. We look forward to going back and have recommended it to our friends and colleagues already.
