The hunt will be what you choose to make it. If you want to just kill a pig, easy. If you want to hunt and find a big boar, you can do that. We didn’t see any boars with tusks. That was a issue with me. We got there about 5pm on Sunday. We were checked in and told to be at the main lodge at 7 in the morning to meet our guide Brandon at breakfast. Then we were pretty much abandoned. Met up with Brandon the next morning, worked out a few details of how we wanted to hunt and up the mountain we went. We told him we’d sit stand for a couple hours and then start hunting down the mountain. Met up around noon went to lunch and then back out for the evening sit. Picked us up just before dark, back to the lodge for supper. Then abandoned again. Brandon came at 5am the second day and up the mountain we went. Luckily we both killed that morning. Breakfast was brought up to us, but was ice cold. Got the hogs down and gutted. Brandon told us that skinning and quartering was part of the package, not according to the website. Ate lunch and hung around the lodge. Went and got ice for the coolers and came back for supper. No supper, the cook had left for the day and hadn’t made it back. Abandoned again. Last day, we ate breakfast, then went in to settle up. When money was being taken was the only time anyone other than the help showed up. The guy said we owed $285 for skinning and quartering 2 hog. I told him what the guide had told us and that I had come prepared to do it myself. First he said it was illegal for me to do it in Tennessee then it was due to insurance. I told him it didn’t say anything about that on the website. He told me “I’ve worked here for 27 years and never looked at the website”. Ended up they didn’t charge us for it. Brother and I had a good time together, first time we’d hunted together in 35 years. Planning another trip next year, but will be to a different lodge. Just felt like they didn’t care if we were there or not. Brandon was a great guy and we enjoyed his company. Doesn’t make up for all the other little things. Don’t go expecting good home cooked food, it’s not.
