Very poor operation. Did not answer emails and was almost impossible to reach by telephone. In fact I arrived in NM not knowing if I would be met at all. My guide worked hard, but the deck was stacked against us. Outfitter booked me into a unit that had very few deer. The ones we saw were trophy class, but never presented an ethical opportunity for a shot. I would have preferred hunting where I would have had a decent chance at a representative animal. Either the outfitter did not understand or he ignored my request. Guide arrived with small travel trailer without heat, running water or working toilet. Food was mostly freeze-dried or eaten in roadside cafes. I was charged $1000 extra for food and lodging even though they were supposed to be included. What a nice surprise! At that price I should have been able to have a nice motel room with indoor plumbing. Instead I had to do what bears do in the woods. Again, guide worked hard and seemed to know the terrain. We saw 2 very large mule deer, lots of elk and antelope. Unfortunately he had a recent DUI conviction. The breathalizer installed in his truck necessitated frequent stops and did not inspire a lot of confidence. Vince Vigil apparently has excellent connections in Albuquerque. I understand that he has access to areas that others do not. His operation may simply be bigger than he can manage properly. In my case, he did not do the job. I would not recommend him to anyone, and, frankly, would not accept a free trip if offered.
