I first hunted with Pine Acres in September of 2019. The hunt was actually a combo Bear and Wolf hunt and I primarily was interested in the Wolf. I had never been to Canada before and I had a lot of questions about what to expect. The owner Chris and I had several conversations to the point of me annoying myself. He handled it all very politely and made sure I was prepared with all of the proper paper work and expectations. Upon arrival Chris and his lead guide Joe Tanner worked out bait site's with each of my party members to match their individual needs and expectations. Every single day of the hunt I heard wolves howl which is an experience in itself. I missed an opportunity the second night of the hunt on a pack of wolves that came in late. The next evening just before dark I killed a monster black bear that Joe had told me he had been seeing. As I waited for the four wheeler to come get me I listened to an entire pack of wolves howling a hundred yards away or so. To say it was intense would be an understatement. The next night was a repeat with the wolves only this time they came to the bait a little too early and I was able to wrap my tag around one. It was truly an experience that I will never forget. I was instantly hooked on those animals and that place. As soon as I got home I called Chris an booked another hunt. Six months later I was back, hunting wolves in the snow and listening to those howls again. I didn't tag a wolf that trip but I took with me many more memories and I look forward to the next hunt. If not for the Covid situation I'd be back this September. If you are serious hunter looking for a no nonsense black bear or wolf hunt then you owe it to yourself to contact Chris Lavoie and his team. They are truly top notch!
