I arrived at camp the day before the season opener. I would be hunting for 5 days. Mark and his guides were there to greet us. They are very friendly people, visibly knowledgeable, and were excited to have us in camp. Mark brought us into the lodge and showed us around. The lodge is very nice, clean and organized. It has two showers, toilets, sinks. Scent killing soap is provided. Fresh, clean towels are provided every day. The sitting room has a big screen TV and comfy couches. The beds are bunk beds, and I must say that they are very comfortable. I was able to tell great care was used make the lodge as hunter friendly as possible. The guide for my group was a fellow named Jim. Jim was with Mark from the start, and he was very professional. He did all the small things I expect in a good guide. Like shutting off the vehicle to avoid exhaust fumes on clothes, Spraying us down, and our best option to approach stand locations. I never had a problem getting to any stand, or busting any deer. His knowledge of the farms, and stand sites was outstanding. His scouting was spot on, as he knew which bucks were in the areas we were hunting, and did his best to provide us an opportunity to get one. The hunting was mostly over cut corn fields or soybean fields because the deer were still hitting them hard.. I was very pleased with stand location. They were close to the food sources, and were set up on pinch points, and natural land breaks, and funnels. It was hot; deer movement may have been down, however I saw several bucks every night. I also saw tons of doe. About 80% of the deer I did see were in easy bow range. On the 3rd day of my hunt I passed on a shooter 8 point at 20 yards at 4:30, then I saw a world class buck come into the soybean field at 7:00 pm. Lucky for him he was 91 yards away. He was what we all dream of, and would have gone over 190 inches for sure! He ended up being the only buck out of range. That’s why he is 5 years old I guess. On the last evening of the hunt, again I saw several deer, including a 140 class 10 point in velvet, at 40 yards. The opportunity was there, but I passed on the shot because it wasn’t “Perfect”. I would recommend Premier Archery Outfitters to anyone looking for a great hunting experience. The are a dedicated group and it really showed to me. I am looking forward to going back in the near future. –T-
