Sunday Morning Hunt

Well I figured out that I should leave the stand selection up to the experts because I am batting Zero this trip. The wind was supposed to be southwest so I picked a stand called the Silo which is south of town. I got there plenty early, set up, and waited for first light. At first there was virtually no wind. It picked up a little as the sun came up and blew in 3 different directions pretty much all morning. It was so faint that I should have been able to see the deer coming in even if they were downwind. I had 4 does at 8:30AM and that was all I saw this morning.

Sorry for not posting any pictures but I'm pretty sure most of you can imagine what a Kansas doe looks like.

Sunday Afternoon Hunt

This weather is crazy. As I drove Kent's truck to the Tree belt stand it was darn near 60 degrees. It was 18 this morning. There was a consistent Southwest wind which was great for this particular stand. At 5:15 deer started heading in and they never stopped. By the time it was dark I had over 20 deer around me. Lots of small bucks that were all busted up and one decent buck. He was a perfect 10 but he was just too young and needed at least one year. I'm not that desperate, but I did think about it for a second or two. Hopefully that breaks my bad luck streak. The weather for tomorrow is hot again with temps in the low 60's.
