OUTFITTER
We are hunting with Cimarron River Outfitters owned by Kent and Clay Jarnagin. It's pretty tough to get an open slot at CRO but if you do, you will experience one incredible Kansas Bowhunt!

Day 6
With my time running out I switched to the Wooden treestand. We saw a great wide 8 point buck there on camera and he was coming in several times during the night. With few options, I said "screw it" and decided to hunt there. It was cold and still this morning with a light frost on the truck. I got into the stand 45 minutes before shooting light and there was a lot of chasing going on around the cedars surrounding my stand. At first light, a mature 6 point came in. I had enough light but decided that I really didn't want to shoot a six, even this late in the hunt.
At 8:30 a doe was running around in the CRP. She was being chased by the wide 8. He jumped the fence and was now in my immediate area. I was hoping that he'd follow the doe by my stand but they never showed. I stayed in until noon and never saw another mature buck. Just dinks, does and fawns.
I climbed back into the Wooden stand at 1:30. a couple of does and fawns fed in front of me until 5:15pm when the big six from this morning came in. He was nice! And I was tempted to shoot him, but I knew that I would be shooting for the sake of shooting. I really don't want a six point so I stayed disciplined. I saw no other mature bucks this evening.
