OUTFITTER
We are hunting with Cimarron River Outfitters owned by Kent and Clay Jarnagin. It's pretty tough to get an open slot at CRO but if you do, you will experience one incredible Kansas Bowhunt!

Day 4
I hunted the calvary creek stand again this morning. It was actually pretty slow. There was some young bucks chasing and that 10.5 year old buck we nicknamed ODB (Old Dirty Bastard) was being a pain in the ass again this morning. He is just a tank! With perhaps the ugliest rack I've ever seen.
I stayed in until 10 am. I usually like to sit longer during this time of year but it was slow and I wanted to kill coyotes.
My buddy Greg has never been on a predator hunt, and since we drove I brought my .204 custom build AR-15 and my calls. So we ate a quick lunch and headed to Kent's Canyon's. We got set up and called two dogs in within 15 seconds of turning on the call. I folded up the first mangy dog with a frontal shot. We called a few more spots and saw coyotes but they wouldn't come in. I guess my first shot really put them on guard. We'll go back out in the next couple of days.
For the afternoon I hunted a ground blind at Kent's South Pasture. This is a really neat area. No trees, just sandhills and sagebrush covered hills next to a big winter rye field. There are always giants in here and the trail cam pics show this year is as good as it gets.
It was warm and windy and I had very little action until shooting light was gone. A small 8 came in followed by a big mature 8 that was a shooter. It was just too dark to shoot, no video light either. So I didn't get any footage today at all.
I've got three days left. The deer are around, they are just not cooperating. It will happen, just have to be in the right place at the right time. and if it doesn't happen I may have to shoot ODB!
