Hunt was booked as pack in by horse to remote area. Alan changed us to a drive into camp a few weeks prior to our hunt. The camp was in good shape and the area looked very huntable. We hunted very hard and checked all the places he suggested and beyond. We never saw or heard an elk for 4 days. There was a fair amount of elk sign but 95% of it was weeks old. Alan had told us the upon arrival that the hunter in this camp before us had left early after seeing no elk as well. While I can't blame an outfitter for the fact that elk had moved off this hunting site, I do feel that a good outfitter would have scouted more before putting hunters in a no win situation.
