Casey outfits for a number of animals, and is an absolute top notch houndsman. If you have a hound hunt on your bucket list, I highly recommend the Lazy D Hounds. We hunted on snow, but I've seen pictures of the cats they've taken hunting dry ground in the summer. Prior to the hounds doing their thing, I was constantly impressed with Casey's ability to read tracks while driving down the road. He could get species, direction of travel, and an estimate of size/sex from tracks that were nothing more than impressions in melting snow to me. The truly magical part of the hunt didn't happen until the hounds were released. It's hard to describe the pleasure of watching a well-trained hunting dog. The cat I harvested came from a day-old frozen track, and the lead dogs Clyde and son, Djano, made quick work of sorting it out, jumping the cat and putting him in a tree. I would encourage everyone to experience hunting behind hounds at least once.

Snow! The snow was melting during most of my hunt, but we did have close to a foot on the ground when we started in on the track. On the hike out it started snowing, and dropped another inch on us before getting back to the truck.
