Not entirely sure where to begin based on all of the issues: I scheduled a sika hunt as DOA was the only one with openings (all others outfitters were booked solid with repeat customers - this should have been a red flag). Prior to arrival Joe raised the agreed upon price at the last minute and insisted on cash payment only (second flag) claiming inflation increase. During the hunt we were put with a gentlemen who dropped us of at a trail head and told us where to walk. After the first day he just sent us a text messages on 2 of the remaining 3 days of where to go as he was with other clients; definitely NOT a guided hunt. On all of the hunts we were left on our own to get out of the hunt area, at no point did anyone check to see if we made it out safely. On top of this, one of the areas was actually a white tail area and not sika habitat. Joe NEVER went into the field, nor arranged for another guide. The poor quality of the service was raised with Joe, for which he became extremely discourteous and actually stated at one point that "I should clean the guides boots." In discussions with the guide, he stated he was only paid to get us to a site, and that he was actually subcontracted by Joe - he was with a different outfitter (Maverick Outfitters). Additionally, he stated that all the properties being hunted were his (NOT DOAs) and that they charge half as much as DOAs single animal for a two sika hunt. With that said, we figured we spent $200 a night for a bunk house of highly questionable cleanliness (rat droppings, cockroaches). However in Joe's defense on subcontracting, he did fully admitted to us all that he had only be sika hunting ONLY once...I'll leave that one there based on his website claims. When given the opportunity to discuss like gentlemen, and work on a resolution, he out right refused and will block the call. Do yourself a favor, just get on the list with one of the reputable outfitter services.
