If you're hunting with Lonesome Dove Outfitters you're in good hands. Dennis's operation runs like clockwork. No stone is left unturned. The guides, their knowledge, the equipment, the abundance of animals and the trophy and meat care are all top shelf. I had the hunt of a lifetime with Lonesome Dove and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a trophy mountain goat. I gave the food an Excellent rating for 2 reasons. One, I've never had a Mountain House until this hunt. I really liked them! After a day out in the cold, rain and wind and hot Mountain House really hits the spot. Two, his wife Alicia is a savage in the kitchen. I enjoyed several meals at their house and they were all 5 Star! Plus they had Red Vines for dessert!! Literally can not go wrong with that combo.
The job becomes much easier with clients like Eric who take their training seriously. All of our hunters were in great physical condition and we took 9 billies for 11 hunters with another being hit and lost. There were 3 archery kills and all three will make P&Y. We had the earliest snow I can remember which really made the hunting difficult.
We had a mix of cold, wet and miserable with sunny, warm and beautiful. I'm glad I saw both sides of Alaskan weather on my hunt.
