Pictures of turkeys showed dozens milling about. Owner spent lots of time telling me how NWTF always hunts with him and said he would personally guide us, at least the first day or so but never had any contact with him after arrival. He also said success rate over 90%, so since there were two of us you would think maybe we could have gotten one shot. Our guide was super lazy and probably wasn't even a turkey hunter. We had to get him out of bed 2 out of three days. First day he dropped us in the landscape without even a map and said they usually roost there near the tank. I had no idea where we were and the landscape was utterly unfamiliar. Finally on the second day I requested to see a map and he managed to find one. After dropping us out each morning he went back to the trailer and slept. He was no help at all. By the last day I had figured out there were only 3 gobblers on the whole place. They were very familiar with each other and maybe hunted out. They didn't respond to calling at all. I didn't complain at the time, but it has to be the worst hunt I have ever been on. I was also told by the guide they wanted payment in full the day before the last hunt - must have been afraid I would just leave. I paid(I never had any intention of not) and I even tipped the guide although it felt like a kidney stone. I have been on turkeys hunts before when we didn't get anything, but I felt like the guide really worked hard and knew what he was doing. This guy was a jackleg.
