I recommend this outfitter

I've hunted with Eric for several years now, but because of some issues at my business hadn't back in a few year till this last year in 2019. But when a few of my friends were talking about going on a mule deer hunt Eric and Milk River Outfitters was the first place that I thought of and highly suggested to my friends that we go!

I've hunted in Hinsdale as well as Miles City and have enjoyed both very much and over the years I've come to call Eric a friend as well as someone I choose to have as an outfitter for hunting over the many other option which are out there as he is an outstanding person as well as a very knowledgeable guide with an incredible hunting area with lots of deer both whitetail and mule!

I arrived in camp on the 7th of November with three of my friends to hunt Mule deer. Two of my friends went with one of Erics guides and myself and one of my other friends went with Eric. We hunted all day and saw around 300 to 400 mule deers with about 50 or 60 being bucks that first day! Both myself and my friend each killed the first day out both deer being around 180". My friend had a 400 yard shot on his deer, but my deer was way out there around 50 yards and my friend had a good time making fun of me as he even till today continues to point out his shot placement was a lot better then mine at eight time the distance...lol But thats what makes the hunt so good the friendships and the memory of laughing with good friends and living out ones fantasy of hunting in such a wild and wonderful place as Montana is!

I came to this site to write about my experience in Montana with Eric and Milk River Outfitters as it was pointed out to me that two gentlemen which were In camp at the same-time as myself and my friends wrote a very bad review of Milk River Outfitters as well as Eric! I remember these two gentlemen very well as both myself and my friends interacted with them in camp a few times before we left. As I remember they were a father and son and I don't remember these two guys once complaining about anything but rather showing nothing but excitement for the hunt to come as well as talking about all the deer and really big bucks they were seeing that first morning hunt during our lunch get together back at camp. So knowing Eric like I do and the area as well as the quality of deer there I can't understand for the life of me why they would write anything negative, but some people just like to be negative I guess even when they are surrounded by good friends and the beautiful outdoors. I left before they were successful in getting their deers but from the review in which they wrote I gather that calling a 180 deer a sub 180 must be grounds for both putting you in a bad mood as well as writing a bad review for one of the best guys and outfitters I've every hunted with!

I have re-booked this year as well and look forward to hunting Mule deer with Eric once again maybe this time we will find that ever allusive 200" Muley or maybe it will be a sub 180 either way the Hunt will be amazing as always with Milk River Outfitters!

P.S. Both my other two friends where successful as well in getting their mule deer the following day. Neither one scored that well but both of my friends were very happy as they had passed on bigger bucks but wanted something with character which both these deer had! Hope everyone has a good and successful hunting season coming up and that this review helps you in making your decision for your next hunting trip!

We had some light snow and the conditions were cold at least for a Tennessee boy like me. But it seemed to put the deer on their feet as we saw plenty of them!
