I hunted opening week of archery with Two Bear Outfitters. This was my 8th different elk camp in 9 years. Alan runs a top notch elk camp in the heart of Sapphire mts just east of Hamilton. Once arriving at the trail head, hunters had option of walking or Riding a horse to camp. About 1 1/2 hour walk. Camp was very clean and organized. Wall tents, cots, and wood stoves were all in excellent condition. Each morning we left on foot before daybreak, after a hearty breakfast, with lunch in our pack and returned after dark. Unfortunately the rut started late this year so the elk were not talking like we’d hoped. We covered a lot of ground every day trying to locate the elk since they were not talking. So I would recommend you are in reasonably good walking shape. I did not harvest an elk but did locate several throughout the week. Rubs and droppings were abundant and fresh so I know the quantity is there. Alan and his guides are all bow hunters at heart. Their knowledge of the area and calling ability was excellent. They were very accommodating as to how hard and long you wanted to hunt each day. I heard several times “ this is your hunt” so they did whatever they could to make your hunt memorable regardless if you were successful or not. The food was the best I’ve had in 8 camps. The young lady was an exceptional cook. Every meal, including lunch was gourmet and healthy. Appetizers awaited us when returning at night before our dinner/dessert. The camp jack had our tent stoves fired up before we rose in the mornings and evenings before we returned back to camp. I’m returning again in 2020 for a second hunt with Alan. This is the first time I’ve ever returned to a outfitter for a second time. That should tell you how much I enjoyed by hunt and how confident I am in harvesting an elk next year.
None to date. If you are the outfitter please email us.
