Hunter Comments

I talked with Bince at the harrisburg show in 2018. We booked with him on the understanding that we would apply gor the gila units amd if not drawn we would buy vouchers for the oportunity hunts in 51 or 52. We did not draw out so we purchased vouchers for unit 51. We arrived at camp when scheduled and found the bunkhouse clean and comfortable. We met with the guides at dinner and were paired with our guide Rick. We set the plans foe the hunt and set off on the morning. Rick had a solid knowledge of the area and we were in elk from the start. Swirling winds ended our morning so we packed out and checked aome waterholes for the evening sit. We sat 2 waterholes that evening and the wind swirled on me blowing out the elk early enough to move so i hiked out and meg rick amd we move to a different mountain range and tried ambushing elk moving off the top to feed for the evenimg with no luck. Second morning we were back on the herd from the previous morning and were able to get into 45 yards on the herd bull but just shy of getting a shot due to cover. We backed out and sat the same waterholes as the previous evening. The wind was good and consistent. At 3:40 a 5 point came into the water and was in up to his back before i could get my bow up. As he came out of the water a 50 yard quartering away shot ended my hunt. We continued the following day as normal with my partner up at bat. They had a couple opportunities but couldnt close the deal so he was back at the waterhole for the evening. The next day was more of the same with him connecting on the waterhole that evening. We were in elk every day and enjoyed the hunt as well as our guide Rick. All the guides were great sports and pitched in if available to help get his bull away from the wayerhole so anouther hunter could sit the tank the following evening because the elk were hitting it every evening. I would definately hunt with them again.
