This was a moose hunt I got at a SCI banquet auction. It was in a part of Canada which was extremely popular with local hunters. Everywhere we went there were local hunters. My guide smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day (I actually counted) and did it whether we were driving in an enclosed side by side or whether we were in the field hiking/calling . When I questioned the cigarette smoke interfering with our hunt he just said he doesn't believe in all that scent stuff. Of the 8 hunters that week there was only one bull seen and it was shot from the road. The camp itself and food were fine although the advertised brochure stated you would be staying in a lake side lodge which was not true but the wall tents were nice. Everyone in camp had either received the hunt through SCI or added it on after their friend acquired it at SCI. I realized very quickly that moose hunting for these guys is a necessary inconvenience so they can supply SCI with their required auction hunts in order to get their table at the SCI convention so they can promote their deer hunting. After inquiring a bit I figured out that they only really get 1 or 2 moose a year for the entire season so my experience seemed more the standard than unusual

Perfect moose hunting weather. It snowed lightly on the third day.
