Giles Island is a beautiful property with very nice lodging and good food. They also have some great deer. The problem is there is not enough trophy deer for most of the people they book, so then one on one guides try to keep you away from killing their trophies. You will see them just not kill them. Ithere were 12 hunters for a three day hunt and only one smaller deer killed and one missed. No others had opportunities. I personally had a 140 class whitetail coming right into me and workers from the camp made so much noise they scared at 90 yards. This may have been done purposely. There is no way the guides there cannot put hunters on he deer, they just do it for select people. No apology was given to me nor another chance to bag a trophy. I am not a rich hunter and after 30+ years of hunting I was finally able to pay for an outfitter. I have served this great country of ours for over 25 years and been all over the world including five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. This hunt meant the world to me, but it was a total bust and disappointment. Success here is not for real hunters but only be select people. If you are a legitimate Hunter wanting desperately to bag a real trophy, do not waste your time with this place.
