I hunted black bear with Black Bear Lodge in September of 1996. The lodge was excellent ( clean and comfortable ), the food was outstanding, everyone was friendly and courteous. If you walked away hungry it was your fault. Just outside of the lodge was a huge lake ( Grand Lake ) and there was many other waterways for fishing if you desired to do so. Gil said if me or my hunting partner shot a bear early and bought a fishing licenses we could use his boats at no charge to do some fishing. All the guides were knowledgeable and hard working. Even after I shot my bear the guides worked hard to prepare it for the taxidermist and for the trip home. Gil handled operations at the lodge because he was just recovering from a heart attack. I seen nine bears and my hunting partner seen ten. I had a great time hunting at Black bear lodge.
