Why hunt with Wizard Lake Outfitting? I too had to ask this question, I had already spent lots of money for 2 other guided Canadian Black Bear Hunts ($1500 & $2500 a total of $3500) and only saw sows with cubs, when I asked for a different area to hunt both guides (as if trained this way) responded "That's your bait for the week shoot the sow the cubs will be fine..." this did not sit well with me so for $3500 I watched sows care for their young (I could have watched the National Geographic Channel for free to see this). Gunther on the other hand will not put you on a bait with sows and cubs, he will move you multiple times if necessary to get a broadside shot at a mature boar at 20 yards or less, for me Gunther put me on a bait loaded with mature boars on the first day I got a 6'6" squared bear and had four more 6 1/2 footers come in after the harvest and could have taken any of them, my bait for day 2 had 2 more 6 1/2 footers and at 10pm a 7'2" squared (7'6" from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail) beast showed up (see pictures below) that I harvested. In 14 days with other guides 0 bears with WLO & Gunther 2 days of hunting, not 1 but 2 trophies of a lifetime, they are definitely the best Outfitter in Canada. The accommodations are what makes a great hunt a spectacular experience of a life time! The sleeping arrangements were better than average, and the cook was awesome, so good I had to wonder often if Linda was just trying to fatten us up! Well she succeeded I gained weight on this hunt, you can't say that about most others. The guides were consummate professionals that did everything for you, from taking you to your stand, making you comfortable, educating on size judging to shot placement, and the professional care of your trophy after the harvest.
