I recommend this outfitter

I hunted with 3 Rivers Guide service in both September 2013 and September 2014. The first year was over bait and the second was with hounds. The bait hunt was fine but I'm not the type that likes to sit for a long period of time and quickly determined this was not my thing, thus getting bored I feel attributed to me not being successful. On the third day of the hunt my buddy and I received a phone call from Gordy as he was out that morning running hounds with the boys from West Virginia and his paying dog clients. Well the hounds had chased a bear for over 5 miles, tracked on the GPS collars of the dogs and it looked like the bear was treed on the far side of a large river setback and they had no way to get to it. Gordy asked if we would mind running a couple canoes out to him so they could get to the dogs. We were more than happy to help so we loaded up headed. When we got to the river one of the dog handlers, Gordy and his client got the canoes in the water and they asked if I wanted to come, I was more than willing to say the least. We paddled about a mile down stream and then across the setback all the while Dewayne, he owned the dogs, was intently staring at his GPS so we could approach from a good point. When we landed on the far side of the river we scrambled up the mountain side to where the dogs were and the client was able to get his bear. Now that was the fun part, getting a 300 pound bear, 4 hounds and 4 guys into 2 canoes for the paddle back was a little more challenging! Anyway I was hooked from that point on and can't say enough about this outfitter and the guys he has in his camp. I haven't even mentioned Millee yet but she is the glue that keeps the camp together, her cooking was excellent and you never went away hungry. She is the sweetest person and will go out of her way to make you feel welcome. We spent every night out by the fire drinking a few beers and telling stories, very relaxing and enjoyable. Anyway, last year I went back and killed my first bear. I true adventure in itself! I am heading back this September for my third straight year and look forward to everything this hunt involves. I read a lot of reviews on this forum and just felt some were unjustified, if I can go there 3 years in a row and have a fantastic time each time then something doesn't add up with these other reviews, maybe I'm just lucky ? Either way Gordy and Millee are true friends and I look forward to seeing them each fall!
