I did elk and deer. I was successful on getting a 6x6 elk. the deer hunt was not as successful for a number of reasons. I was there when that artic vortex slammed into montana. out of 6 hunters in camp one harvested a very small 8 point on the last night and another missued a shot at 300 yards. i saw a ton of deer, but 98 percent were does or small bucks. I saw a nice 10 point dropping off one hunter, saw a nice 8 point during our elk t and couldn't take a shot, aside from that nothing in could shoot. on my last morning I was placed in a tree stand, when light broke I saw deer crossing a field, problem was there was absolutely no shot on the field from the stand, I rushed down but lost the shot by that time. 3 other times, includinf a stand, i was placed in areas filled with cattle, not goos for deer. when I booked it was for a combo hunt, and all our tags were good for mule deer, when we arrived we were told thst they only allow 4 mule deer to be taken. we had a group of mule deer in a draw, but we couldn't shoot, we didn't realize that would have been our best chance at a harvest. keith wasn't there the week were hunting. Steve his brother and rob were the guides, along with josh who'd been guiding for 3 months.there was a huge elk rack at the house, one of the owners of montana whitetails shot that elk, turns out he got it hunting with another outfitter.decent experience but not a repeat.
