My black bear hunt with La Griffe d'Ours surpassed all my expectations. I had heard what an amazing outfitting business Yvon Champagne & son Philipe have and I was fortunate enough to be able to experience it first hand. The accommodations (lodging and meals) are outstanding! We shared the week with hunters from France, Montreal and Ohio. It was so much fun to share stories and laughs around the table over incredible meals and desserts.
As soon as we arrived and settled into the lodge, Yvon immediately began showing us the trail camera pictures and footage that he had been compiling. I was so excited and could not wait until the next morning for the hunt to begin.
I was extremely impressed with the amount of bear activity we saw. Jeremy and I hunted for 6 days and we had 20 encounters with bear ALL IN BOW RANGE. I had to pass on several nice shooters the first few days due to low camera lighting. I harvested my bear on the fourth evening and my husband harvested his bear the last day of the hunt. We both took beautiful bears and we could not be more happy.
Yvon and Philipe both go over beyond; from scouting and baiting their sites, to entertaining and making you feel at home . Yvon is extremely knowledgable about the bear and their habitat. Listen to what he tells you and there is no doubt in my mind you will be successful. Patience is key....
