I hunted with Boulder Creek for elk in the fall of 2010. I hunted with a party of four, split up between two guides. We hunted out of very nice cabins located in an outfitter area of the national forest. The amenities were great, particularly after a long day of hunting. It was nothing luxurious, but certainly nicer than most set-ups (electricity, hot shower, beds, couches, etc). The guides worked extremely hard for us both in the field and at camp. The setting and the scenery was gorgeous. The only negative was the amount of animals that I saw. It is thick country, so if the bulls aren't talking, it's very hard to get into elk. In six days of hunting, we saw a total of three elk. One of those was a gorgeous 6x6 scoring over 300" that my hunting partner took. Despite high hopes when we had a bull bugling right at camp the first night, the bulls were quiet most of the week. Like I said, withouth them bugling it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
That being said, the quality of every other aspect of the hunt was good to great. I booked a follow up hunt this year that I had to postpone due to the fact that I drew a once-in-a-lifetime tag in New Mexico. But I plan on hunting elk and other species with Boulder Creek in the future and look forward to getting back to the Lochsa!
