This was a rifle hunt for elk during the rut north of Jackson Hole, WY. Basically we hunted bulls that liked to hang out in the Teton National Park and venture out to look for cows. All logistics of the hunt met or exceeded what I had expected, (i've only been on one guided hunt previously, and these guys wrote the book on how to do it right, IMO) Hunting was tough, the elk were hanging near or inside the park boundries during the hunt, the timber was thick and it got a little frustrating for the camp. But, what i was was most impressed with was the drive of ALL of the guides and outfitter in camp to keep trying everything they could to get us elk. Attitude is everything with me, and these guys kept hopes up high. All paid off on day 3 for me. Fun camp and very professional. Good mixture of horseback and walking, not easy, but not so tough that with a little conditioning anyone could do this hunt. As a group of 6 we did not see a lot of elk during the trip due to the nature of hunting heavy timber and targeting roaming bulls, also i believe the full moon and weather had an influence on this. I was impressed also with the amount of area we had to hunt, for the most part we were in different country each day looking for elk. I also can't submit a review with complimenting the outfitter on his horses, those who read this review do not know me, but those who do know me know that horses are not my favorite critter....I was extremely impressed with how Swift Creek Outfitters picks or uses or whatever the term should be used is....handles their horses for hunters. Best ever, and thats a lot for me to say :)
