Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

I'm still suffering from jet lag but am also basking in the glow of a great hunting experience. I hunted red stag with Gerald Telford and was impressed with the hunt from beginning to end. We hunted only free-range stags and saw much better quality animals than I expected for not hunting inside a high fence. The stalk opportunities were numerous in some of the most gorgeous high country I've ever witnessed. The "roar" was on and we got excellent footage of stags in action. The story and footage will appear later in Bowhunter Magazine and on our television show but suffice it to say this hunt exceeded our expectations. I took a very nice stag and saw many (missed one) that were larger, all free-range animals. The terrain was steep but very stalkable. Rest assured, this is not a compensatory recommendation. As it always is with me, it's a genuine, sincere report. If you want a free-range stag (or a high-fence animal, for that matter) Gerald and Sue will take great care of you.

Thanks Curt for taking the time to submit an accurate report. Well done on your hunt !

Curt Wells and Larry Jones are professional bow hunters and we are very pleased that their satisfaction in their intense hunting and filming over the 7 day period was 100% on our freerange Red Stag hunting area.

For the Hunters and Guides, close proximity to the Red Stag during the rut, observing their characteristics and the acceptance of the terrain that must be negotiated to successfully get within range of the Red Stag with a bow, is what makes the full experience of a New Zealand hunting expedition.

Come and let us guide you to this terrain and bow hunt a great animal called the Red Stag. www.flyfishhunt.co.nz

We had gorgeous weather. It was warm, around 80 degrees for three days but the stags were still quite active, more than elk in those kind of temperatures. No rain.
