I recommend this outfitter

I just recently got back from a trip to the Dos Plumas Ranch, it is located 30 miles west of Abilene. Allen Williams is the ranch owner, he is a great guy, I can't say enough about him. He is a hard worker, VERY FUNNY, and down to earth, he treats you like family. He runs a great ranch, lots of game, lots of hogs, nice stands and blinds. His wife, Lori, cooks the best darn food I ever ate, and all the meals are TEXAN size. He will teach you some Texan lingo and "secrets" (will leave it at that LOL). The lodge you stay in is nice, it is comfortable and has a rustic look too it as you see in my pics. It has enough room for about 10 hunters, satelite TV, 2 bathrooms and shower, and a nice kitchen. I made friends with many great guys while I was there, so many stories and BS to talk about, most were older guys so they were really interesting to talk too. In the morning we did spot and stalk hunt, and got back to camp, ate some great food, went back out and sat at waterholes and than feeders in the evening. I'll tell ya what, those pigs are not easy to hunt, they are HARD, i've hunted moose and they were a lot easier to put a stalk on than these guys. Also those exotics, they are spooky critters too, they would put up a challenge thats for sure. This is no where near a canned hunt, you got to work to get your pig, but Allen will put you in the best spot if he likes you LOL! But seriously, this is one of the best hunts I been on, its way different hunting than what I was used too. I just can't never understand why anyone would want to hate on a high fence ranch like this, this place is a challenging hunt and definitely a lot of fun. This hunt will put your hunting skills to the test! I got my first bow kill there, wow, what a THRILL! I ended up shooting two pigs, a nice small 50 lb. one and the last one I lost unfortunately There is a lot of different sized hogs there, most a meat size but there are some big boys there too. But all in all, this was one of the greatest times I ever had hunting. I would highly recommend this outfit any day. You may have read a review by some guy with the last name "Smead", that guy is totally wrong and what he said about Allen, that is the most bull I have ever read. Allen is one the most honest and down to earth guys I know. You got to respect the guy and can't expect him to do everything for you, after all, this is HUNTING and there should be some ethics imposed too. Not "Atleast you hit it" after the kid gut shot the critter, what a way to teach a young hunter ethics! Anyway, Allen if your reading this, can't wait to head back down there and do work son! Book a hunt with him and believe me, you will have a great time! Look forward to heading down there again.
