Hunter Comments
I recommend this outfitter

Hunted 16E in the famed Gila with Beaver Head outfitters, John and Jack Diamond.

The run a sprawling base camp out of which multiple clients can hunt. I believe they can outfit hunters from there to multiple Gila units. Very effecient setup. Very friendly people.

We hunted out of a wall tent camp back near the wilderness boundary.

My friend killed on the 2nd day and me on the 3rd day. We killed the biggest bulls we saw although we busted a few out of the oak brush that we never got a good look at.

16E is not known as the best Gila hunt but it was nice. Weather was nice with cold (freezing) mornings and warming to the 60's during the afternoon. We used horses to get to where we needed to be, then glassed and walked. We saw a few other hunters but mostly we were alone. Saw some very nice mule deer in the unit too.

The guide and camp cook were very nice, experienced with horses, and good elk hunters.

I thought we would see more bulls than we did and larger bulls too. That didn't happen although we saw enough to get it done.

Beaver Head is the real deal, with good guides and good areas. You still need to be and shape and be able to shoot. I killed my bull at 210 yards with a smokepole, you get the idea. Good hunt!
