Food Plot 1c - Hancock Deer Greens

Utilization based on game camera survey on this crop choice + evidence of use

Growth Results

I decided to plant an acre of brassicas alongside my soybean plot. The strategy was simple; as the beans diminished, the brassicas would take over. That strategy worked well.

Activity Results

Typical for brassicas, the deer like them more as the weather grows colder. The deer barely touched them in the warmer months of September. They started utilizing the greens more in October, and by December they were hammering the plot.

Comments

Deer greens are easy to grow and work very well in my cold, northern property. I did have some issues with my seeder and that left some gaps in seeding. Those gaps were filled with Pigweed. This was my mistake, and had nothing to do with the seed. Where the seed contact occurred, the deer greens came up fantastic.
