Review: Edge2 and Edge2Pro cellular cams
We tested both Moultrie Mobile Edge2 cams in this extensive review feature and associated VIDEO
Since last July I have been testing the new Moultrie Mobile Edge2 cellular trail cams. Both the Edge2, and the Edge2 Pro. Let's start with the Edge2 cam.
Edge2
The Edge 2 builds on the Edge platform introduced last year. It has a fast 0.40-second trigger speed, extended 100-foot detection and flash range, 36MP images and 1080p videos (with sound). It has an expanded field of view (50 degrees) over the original Edge, and uses a low-glow flash for long-range night vision. The Edge 2 retails for $99.
Edge2 Pro
For hunters looking for more advanced features and capabilities, you can step up to the new Edge2 Pro which incorporates artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities into the camera.
Like last year’s Edge Pro, the Edge2 Pro has great advanced features such as a new On Demand feature where you can remotely trigger a photo or video, and update settings at any time through the Moultrie Mobile app. It also retained the live view feature introduced in the first generation. That makes positioning the camera a snap. The Edge2 Pro has a built in GPS so you will never lose track of your camera. The most advanced feature is the integrated AI where you can reduces false triggers, extend battery life, and command your Edge2 Pro camera so it captures only the pics you want. I set my Edge2 Pro to only take a pic of bucks.
The Edge2 Pro has a very fast Trigger Speed at 0.30-second, a 100-foot detection and flash range and No-Glow Flash which do not alert game . Photos and videos are 40MP images and up to 1440p videos with sound, The edge2 Pro retails for $139.

Edge2 cams share these common features
Easy Setup
Setup is the same as the previous Edge camera, you simply open the app, click on activate, and follow the prompts. It takes less than a minute and is a simple process. Simply choose your plan and connect.
Settings
The camera can be set to take photos, or photos + video. There are several setting options like Burst Mode, Trigger Mode, Single Photos, Photo+Video, delay options, and more. There are also upload options which are all controlled through the app.
Power Options
Right out of the box, the camera operates on 8, or 16 AA batteries. I always recommend 16, and I always recommend Lithium Ion batteries. But you should also consider the Moultrie battery pack that works on all Edge cams, including the original Edge cams and the Edge2 cams. I have been using these for two years and I'm hooked on them. They save you a ton of money and the power output is outstanding, even better than the 16AA Li Ion batteries. They also re-designed a newer solar panel this year that recharges the battery packs while keeping the camera powered.

Edge2 Test Results
Edge2
I have two Edge 2 cams in the field since June and the results have been fantastic. Trigger speed is fantastic, battery life is very good when using Lithium-Ion Batteries or a Moultrie Battery Pack. I have been switching between photo, and video captures and the camera captures both very well, both for day and night photos and videos.
The Edge2 is a great all-around camera that is easy to setup, and has some great features and very reliable, taking over 5000 photos since I deployed the two cameras.
Edge2 Pro
I have 2 Edge2 Pros in the field that have taken over 10,000 photos to date. Both cameras have been extremely reliable with zero problems and great battery life, even while utilizing the updated AI functions. For example, I had a leaf that kept triggering a capture. I went into the App and chose my Edge2 Pro Camera. I clicked on Smart Zones and blocked two grids where the leaf was triggering the camera. The capture stopped.
The video quality captured by my Edge2 Pro was phenomenal at the 1440p setting. Sound quality was excellent as well. Photo capture at 40mp was also excellent. When the first AI enhanced Edge cams came out last year, there were reports of issues with battery life. I experienced none of that with the Edge2 Pro. It performed extremely well for both photos, video and battery life has been exceptional.
Summary
Both the edge2 and the Edge2 Pro are great cameras with terrific features. They take quality images and videos, are easy to setup, and can attach to the strongest carrier in the area. They are priced right and they both work flawlessly with the Moultrie Mobile App.
