There was a buck that only showed up on my properties for a day or two between November 10th and the 16th... always with a doe. I had 3 years of encounters with him and a shed from the year before that. I caught up with him on November 11th this year in the best location to try and catch up with him... if he was still alive, as I hadn't any info on him for a year. Shorty before 3pm he came in behind a doe and I made the shot count. The state aged him on tooth wear( not a truly accurate way) at 6.5-7.5. I just got the results back from the lab and he was 10.5 years old!

Pat- I have no idea where he lived. He just showed up for a very small window every year. It is Westchester, but the area has hunters on almost every property and even just not getting hit by a car is a big feat!

After several returned state aged bear results (required in Oregon), I researched a second opinion. That led me to use Deerage.com (a Texas based forensic lab) and the results always show that the Oregon age results are always younger than the Texas results. In one case, a bear went from 3 to 11. That led me to test several deer results as well. The same difference showed up with deer results as well. Dave Heffner Roseburg, OR

Oregonarcher2012- were tests in Oregon based on tooth wear or from a lab like the one in Texas ?

That's really cool. The fact that you never saw him without a doe makes you think that he was a ghost and a recluse to get that old.

Congrats on a dandy buck! He was definetly a smart one! Always amazes me how they find a way to survive with pressure
