Very nice Pat. Congrats. Always great to target a deer and gett'um.

Date:03-Oct-16

Congrats, Pat...great pic, too!

Date:04-Oct-16

Nice buck Pat, congrats. With the cameras and scouting I do on my place, I actually think my best chance of killing a specific buck is the first 10 days of October while they're still working the plots during daylight hours. It seems they seem to go nocturnal mid October, and for me, during the rut, that one buck is hard to find once he starts chasing tail. The rut can be great for seeing lots of chasing bucks, but patterning 1 of 20 bucks on my place is tough. Last year, our best buck disappeared mid October not to be seen until a couple months ago. With all the cams I have up, I'm pretty confident he left the property. If I only had one week to hunt a specific buck, I'd actually choose the first week of the season. I know that defies conventional wisdom.

Date:05-Oct-16

Wow - congrats on the super start to the season Pat! Well done. You put good video together - so that will be fun to view as well.

Awesome hunt - glad it worked out for you!

Date:05-Oct-16

Great job Pat, congrats. You are blessed to have some great land, and a fair piece of it. The #1 buck on my land is a 6 point. I also have a fork horn, and I won't shoot either of them. I have a couple does with fawns, and that is about it.

I am figuring that most of them will get shot once the ML and rifle season start. I hunted 6 times on my land and have yet to see a deer, let alone have a shot, which I prolly wouldn't take anyhow.

It is pretty discouraging to put in food plots, plant apple trees as well as white oaks, in order to try to increase the deer herd, only to get them all shot by the gun hunters, or starved in the Winter.

I think that I am the only one around who won't shoot anything under 8 points or inside the ears. I haven't shot a buck here in NY in over 10 years. It is hard to not fall in to the "if it's brown it's down" mentality of everyone else up here... I so can't wait to go to Ohio.

I'm thinking that my time here in Northern NY is limited.. Once again, congrats on a great buck.

Grats Pat! I missed this last week and saw your kill on the "picture of the day" so I went looking for the Meatpole thread and found this on page 2. That's pretty cool to get him on your first sit.

Date:13-Oct-16

Nice job on a great buck. All of your hard work is paying off!

Pat Congrats what a Dandy. I have hunted the southern ADKs for my entire life. To see what you have done with your property is simply amazing. This is a really tough area to grow big whitetails. No matter what we do here , mother nature still has the final word with our hard long winters. Yet even though I have hunted many other states the ADKs are still my favorite. My 3 year old 120 acre property is about 20 miles east of you and I am presently conforming it to have a better hunting area. Congratulations again and Good Luck

Date:30-Oct-16

Pat, how can you even count those tines in the pics?
