I know guys who have been very unlucky in getting their P&Y Class Mule Deer and have had to go on multiple trips. If you go with Mike's Outfitting Ltd. and can shoot well you can get it done the first time. It is expensive but is definetly worth the price. He has a very high success ratio and many happy archery client referals on his web site.
Mike Ukrainetz is know in the outfitting business as "one of the best" archery Mule deer guides. When you combine his personal bow hunting abilities/outfitting experience with the finest Alberta Mule Deer area you can expect great things. He has the exclusive allocations(tags)for an incredible area in Northwestern Alberta.
I first hunted with Mike in 2004 in his Southern Alberta area and got a 159 3/8 net P&Y Mulie. In 2005 he moved his operation North to Spirit River and my son and I were his first two bow hunters for the 2006 season. My son got his 170 P&Y Class Mulie the first morning and I got my 179 2/8 net P&Y Mulie the second morning. Mike is located in one of the most game rich areas in Alberta. He also does excellent, Bear, Elk, Moose and Whitetail hunts. You stay with him and his wife right at their home which is very close to where you hunt. I am fortunate to have been on many great bow hunts in North America and this is at the top of my list. If I could afford it I'd go every year!!!
Thanks Charlie for the great recommendation. It was sure a lot of fun hunting with you and Matt. We had a fantastic mule deer bow season that year. I guided you and Matt and 2 other hunters, Zig Kertenis and Tony DeAngelis. In total for all 4 hunters we hunted for 8 days, took 5 shots and killed 4 bucks gross scoring 165, 172, 186(yours) and 192. We were all either very lucky or you guys did some great shooting! A bit of both I think. I would love to have both you and Matt up here again. Anyway, thanks again Charlie!
It was extremely dry the year we were there which made it harder as a lot of the farmers had taken in their crops but we stuill saw plenty of trophy animals.
