Out of all the hunters there, only two saw elk. No one killed an elk. Cody also told us to focus on the experience. Enjoy the scenery. I was in top shape as I was running 5 and 6 miles three times a week. He took us down forest roads and we walked where other hunters had been before. On the last day we left at lunch and the guide acted surprised when we didn’t tip him. He bragged about how much the last guy had paid and told us they didn’t kill anything that week either. These guys are in it for cash not to get you an animal. It was a six day hunt. We did see about four two point mule deer and the guide wanted me to shoot it. I have since started elk hunting unguided.
Was the outfitter notified of problems? - YES
Hello, I am sorry Scott felt that way about the hunt. I looked back and Scott had hunted in 2016. During that week we did harvest elk and mule deer. The week prior we harvested elk and deer. Scotts partner harvested a mule deer buck during the week. It was not a great week of hunting and their guide no longer works for our company. I try my best to control things that are within our control as outfitters and guides. Its important to me that each client gets the hunt he is looking for even though they might have different expectations. I am glad Scott is now hunting SOLO as that might be the right fit for him. I hope potential client realize that we deal with many different types of personalities of clients throughout our year and this was a challenging one.
It was clear and cold.
