The location for this outfitter is great, but everything else was just terrible. The guides didn’t know the area AT ALL! My guide had never guided before and he was in his 50’s. I’m in good shape and in my 30’s so even if he did find the elk, he wouldn’t be able to match my pace. We rode horses most days to save him from walking and I got bucked off going up a hill for no reason. The guy just blamed it all on me. One of the other guides was a LADY IN HER 60’s! She hurt her knee the first day and couldn’t go very far the rest of the trip. You would think she would turn down a tip from my uncle, but nope, she accepted it at the end of the hunt. The other guide was in his 30’s and was actually a great guy. He'll be a great guide once he knows the area. I wish I was making this all up, but I could go on for a while telling stories of incompetence.

Other camps had success hunting water holes during the heat, but our guides didn’t think of this until day 4.
