This was my second trip in as many years to widerack. Both years we had warm weather but some real trophies were seen and taken. The first evening in 2015 I had at least a 140" 8 point with some trash that just never gave me a clean shot. I still think about that buck!
This years trip was a little different for me. 2 months out I wasn't sure I was even going to make it with my Lyme disease flaring up. Mike was awesome at working with my concerns. Fortunately I was feeling much better come time to hunt and all went without a hitch. Mike has I believe 42 stands at his main camp and I sat in new stands this year. All very comfortable stands with life lines, shooting lanes, and safety in mind. Both stands I sat in the first day were Millenium 150s.
I ended up tagging out the first evening on a nice heavy bodied 8 pointer. He wasn't going to score huge numbers but I was very happy with the buck. Mike did a great job helping me track and in short order we found him in an area we could drive right to. What a bonus! Some great bucks were seen and or harvested after I left.
