I've been fortunate to have participated in outfitted hunts all over the world, from poor to great, so I consider myself reasonably experienced in that arena. This was my fifth hunt to Africa with the previous four falling into the good to great categories. However, my most recent trip to Africa with Harry Nel and African Arrow Safaris of South Africa was the best ever by a pretty wide margin. Harry and his family and staff, the lodge, the food, the quantity and quality of the game, the service, the comraderie...just everything was absolutely 5 star perfect.

African Arrow has previously been know as an archery only safari operation and for the archer still maintains that feel as when you are hunting with a bow you will only be hunting archery only ranches. However, Harry has added a parallel operation to his existing business called African Bullet Safaris that caters to rifle hunters and offers hunts on rifle only ranches. Our group of four hunters was evenly divided with two archery hunters, including me, and two rifle hunters. We all stayed at the same magnificent lodge but spent our hunting time with our individual PH's hunting our weapon specific ranches (over 100,00 acres of hunting habitat) for the animals of our choice. Everyone agreed that the quantity and quality of the game was simply outstanding; this is from a group of guys with almost 15 African safaris under our belts.

Our group took over 20 animals including a 40 1/2" eland, a 35" eland, a 59 1/4" kudu (picture attached) , a 54" kudu, an 18" bushbuck, a 14 3/4" bushbuck, a 29" red lechwe, a 26" lechwe, a 25 1/2" lechwe a 7 1/2" mountain reedbuck and on and on. Simply incredible.
