This was my first black bear hunt. I hunted with Outland Outfitting during the last week of May in 2011. This is a “NO FRILLS” bear hunt. Jerry is a very quiet guy, so don’t let this scare you off. He has good bears in his area and had a lot of color phase when I was there. I passed on a medium blonde my second night on stand. The other two hunters in camp killed a large blonde and a cinnamon on their second nights. I saw multiple bear every evening I was on stand except for the first night. I killed my bear on the fourth night of the hunt. Jerry skinned it the following Morning and had the hide and meat frozen for the ride home on Saturday Morning. He put us up in a newly built 3 bed room cabin that is located in a campground on Cedar lake. It has electricity and running water. The Living room area has a large flat screen TV and a blue ray player. In the Mornings you can walk down to the dock and catch pike on spoons. Largest I caught was 35”, but had larger ones follow my lure but would not take it. I’m not one that needs to be fed and pampered. All I needed was a warm place to sleep and an active bait site with a chance at a good bear. That’s exactly what Jerry gives you. Everyone in camp was pleased with their hunt and are making plans on returning.
