I highly recommend Mike’s outfitting to anyone looking to hunt large game in Canada or large game with a quality outfitter for that matter. I was on the moose/elk bow combo hunt last year. Although I was not successful in tagging either species, I had an awesome time. We first arrived and it rained hard….light…. to intermittently for the first 2 days. Although the hunting was slow (not much bugling), I was pleasantly surprised by Mike’s willingness to hit the bush and slog through the mud for those hunters antsy to hunt. He put me on the first Bull elk day 1 with a spot and stalk. I blew the shot when I hit a 2” sapling I failed to see in my line of fire. It is pretty brushy in the Canadian bush (similar to costal Oregon). Feeling pretty humiliated and detracted, Mike did warn me that the Canadian bush has been known to move, taking a hunter’s arrow at the last minute. :) He put me into 3 other encounters (bulls inside 50yds, unfortunately no shot opportunity…. That’s hunting), with one nice 6 pt. that we played with for about 20 minutes and needed about 10 more feet for a shooting lane. We saw moose throughout the hunt, including the ass end of 2 nice bulls (oops! #$%#@). Mike is a very fit guy and it is quite obvious that is he is a serious bow hunter, as evidenced by his trophy room, particularly impressive is his collection stone sheep bow kills (big bruisers!). He has access to numerous unpressured drainages with aerial photos. The hiking is easy to moderate being mostly flat with the longest days not much over 3-4 miles. For gentlemen not so inclined to hiking, he has tree stands over mineral licks/wallows. He does a real good job paying attention and catering to the individual hunter’s needs. There is a nice archery range complete with 3D target. The food and sleeping quarters are very good as well. It’s hard to beat!
If you are looking for a quality outfitter, Mike is the REAL DEAL. I am not a rich man but am certainly going back, once I work this list of “honey does” off and save a little money. :) I highly recommend this hunt or any of his hunts for that matter. Thanks Mike! - Kipp
