This was a spot and stalk hunt for Javalina. I hunted with Dennis and Rodney Ward. These guys know the land they hunt and will find game! I was constantly amazed how well they could pick out an animal through the mesquite and prickly pear. I was shown mule deer, coues deer, antelope, coyotes, sand hill cranes, a couple species of quail, and of course javalina...all in the first day! Though I tagged out the first day I was very much involved in the rest of the hunts and enjoyed being showed the sites and wildlife in southern Arizona.
Although meals weren't included we were invited over to their homes for some home cookin. Rodney's wife makes an awesome tortilla soup and Dennis serves great tamales and refried beans, just beware of the Menudo if it comes from a can!
I was also introduded to Vortex broadheads on this trip. Dennis invented this mechanical head and can tell you more about broadheads than you can ever imagine. All I know is my quiver has been stocked with his Vortex heads ever since and they have NEVER let me down.
These are great guys, great hunters, and will make you feel like great friends.
I agree, Even though I didn’t personally get to hunt with you Jeff it didn’t matter Rodney and Dennis took good care of you and showed you a ton of animals. Again I will have to say Jeff is a dedicated hunter and that’s what it takes to be a successful archery hunter, thanks for all you hard work during you hunt.
Cool mornings and evenings, warm during the day. Great change from Iowa's January blizzards.
