DISCUSSION

All Day Hunt

Tried a new spot. It was a ground blind way the heck off the grid and deep in the back of a farm. It looked great, but it was never hunted and that can be both good and bad. Good in that virgin stands can be the best because the deer are not alarmed. Bad because if the spot isn't getting any action I'm going to be the first to figure that out.

I knew it was a gamble but we rolled the dice. As it turned out it was a bad bet. I saw one doe in the morning and one doe in the afternoon. It was another LONG day sitting still. This has got to be a record for me, I have sat dark to dark three days out of five. I know some of you guys like those all day sits - I don't. By the end of the day it began to rain again and that meant one muddy mess of a quad ride back home. I had left my rain gear behind and by the time I got back to the lodge my brand new Sitka Fanatic gear was no longer green Optifade. It was brown Optimudd.

Despite my slow day the others did very well. Greg shot a nice 9pt with a perfect heart shot. His 2nd best buck to date. Bob from Michigan shot a 10pt. Ken shot a 9pt. At the time of this writing we have two guys looking for deer and I'm getting suited up again to go help them. It was a great day for the guys and I'm very happy for them. I'll try and post pics tomorrow.

Since we missed the morning hunt on Sunday I am going to hunt the AM tomorrow. Only an AM hunt, we have to get back to Saskatoon on Saturday Afternoon. I still have a chance.
