hunting in a bow hunting area only and the hunting is great.
The block mgt. program has created tremendous hunting pressure in districts 600 and 690 where I hunt. Deer numbers are high but finding a mature buck is nearly impossible.
Lots of deer, saw some decent bucks throughout the season. Big antlered whiteys in MT are not as common as some might think. 100-115" isn't crazy hard. 125"+ is a tough find on public (archery)
Do not always agree on how deer are managed but do not want the job, too many contributing factors.

Quality whitetail habitat is primarily private land that is off limits to hunters. Then the state opens up damage hunts after general season with landowners for population control. Makes no sense.
Kevin h (nonresident)
Saw lots of deer
Mike Prescott (resident)
Lewis and Clark described what they saw in the plains of Montana as animals as far as they could see in every direction. Montana has a huge carrying capacity for wildlife. Covers up F&G shortcomings
Michael F. Shepard (resident)
Worst season in years. Way too many little bucks being killed during youth hunt now showing up.
We don't manage much for quality deer in my opinion.
HUNT MAN (resident)
6 week gun season in the rut hurts the mature deer population . One buck state helps to keep a few around.
