2017 was very slow in my area of Mich [southern lower] both in over all deer sightings, & especially in bucks older then a 2 year old. & all the new CWD positives found can't be good.

MI does everything wrong when it comes to deer mgt. 2 many deer seasons, gun season 2 long & occurs during the peak of the rut, 2 bucks/hunter regardless of size. 2 many young bucks harvested.

Michigan lower peninsula has large numbers of deer and should be able to grow big deer. It makes it very difficult with 2 week gun during prime time rut followed up by muzzleloader and late doe.

Extremely large deer herd in my area, buck to doe ratio is way out of whack. Very few neighbors shoot doe, "you don't shoot the deer that make the bucks" mentality along with any buck is fair game...

I feel strongly that Michigan should be a one buck state based on the high hunter density. I also think a shortened firearm deer season, mandatory statewide APR and required deer check in by phone/pic

Most important we need mandatory deer check in not "estimates". That way you have real time data as the season progresses. Get into this century & do away w estimates. 2nd... 1 buck limit state-wide.

We own 80 acres in the thumb and our camp only shoots bucks that would look good on a wall. Our neighbors around us keep shooting every young buck that we pass. I don’t see this mentality changing.

It is not uncommon to see many deer while hunting, however, with Michigan’s continued slaughter of 1.5 year old bucks and absence of regulations to protect these young bucks, mature bucks are rare.
